Dungeons & Dragons Gold Box Collections Coming
Dungeons & Dragons and PC gaming have had quite the relationship over the years, and it stretches far back. The publisher SNEG wants to refresh our memory, or introduce us to some of the classics that came out starting in 1988. In order to do this they are releasing the Gold Box series of Dungeons and Dragons games. As much as I would have loved to see all of the titles under one entry in Steam, it’s still quite a feat to see the volume of games (8 to be exact) that will be officially released on March 29, 2022.
So a couple of quick notes about all of these entries. All of these entries will utilize the DOSBox engine to help performance on the modern day machines. There will be a special Gold Box launcher that will aid you in transferring your party between titles within the collections. Finally, and the thing that I’m most excited about is that there will be companion apps for most of these games that will assist you in dungeon mapping, access to journal entries, and access to spellbooks. That last part will definitely make the experience soother (more for gamers who haven’t tried these titles out before, but it's always nice not to have to take mountains of notes and charts while you play the games).
