Nobody Saves the World Review
An ancient calamity has attacked the world and the one mighty wizard that everyone believes in has disappeared. Then there is you, an absolute nobody, someone who doesn’t have a single skill and to top it off doesn’t have any memory either. However, you will have to master the art of being a nobody and try to save this world, or at least attempt to find someone who can in Nobody Saves the World. One thing you can be assured of is that you’re going to be facing a mountain of quests. Some of them will come from the inhabitants of the world you’ll be traveling, but many of them will come from yourself.
I have to say that I’ve played my fair share of games that love to grind, but this game takes it to a higher level. The thing, though, is that the grind isn’t just to waste time but to power yourself up and unlock additional skills and character classes. If you haven’t figured it out yet, perhaps you are more than meets the eye. You are still a nobody, but a nobody that can grow in power. Your main focus is going to be centered around class specific grind quests, something along the lines of “hit 25 enemies using your bite skill”. The more class quests completed the more powerful you can make that specific class version of yourself, and you can also unlock new classes once you have a high enough ranking in a previous class.
There are a set number of dungeons that you’ll have to conquer, and some of the dungeons will be optional, but I will warn you that as you enter a dungeon, no matter if it’s a main or side dungeon, take note of the special effects. Some dungeons will have enemies that can only be harmed by a specific type of damage. Some dungeons will increase the damage of the enemies. There are many other varieties, so I repeat, check on what the dungeon will do before rushing in there. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been burned by that little detail. Once you’ve completed a side dungeon you can always go back and take it on again. You will notice that the second time around they do scale to your level so don’t expect one hit kill when you take on a very early dungeon again.
I really enjoyed this game. The characters you interact with are unique and humorous. The grind in the game actually makes sense. The types of classes that you can become was quite a surprise, and when you couple that with the unique abilities you can unlock and then mix and match with, you’re looking at a very unique experience. Sure, the start and the end to the game might be the same, but I would be very surprised if many gamers came close to playing the game the same way. There’s just that much variety stuffed into the game. So do yourself a favor and pick this game up, you can thank me later.
