The Outer Worlds 2 Review

A massive threat to the colony of Arcadia causes the Earth Directorate to send out one of their newest hot shot agents to investigate. In The Outer Worlds 2, you will play the role of that agent. You will have to deal with 3 major factions that battle for supremacy using doctrine, trade, and the power of mathematics. There are forces behind the scenes that are trying to make sure that no alliances are made, and so there are plots galore that you’ll have to sift through, and make tough decisions that ultimately affect Arcadia as a whole.

In this First Person Shooter you’re going to have to take on quests and explore areas in several different locations. Thankfully, you’ll have the opportunity to game companions that can help keep you alive, draw fire, paralyze your enemies, and more. You’ll also be able to level up as you go through the game all the way to level 30. Each level will give you skill points to assign to your character, and every other level you’ll get the chance to assign a specialty to your character. Now don’t worry, your companions will have the chance to level up as well. There are tiers in which once you level up to a certain level you can unlock one of two options. You can also get upgraded equipment and armor by taking on their companion quest lines.

I do want to say that there are definitely some skills that you’re going to use based on your playstyle and then there are others that, in my experience, will get no love, but of course they become the most important in the end. I won’t spoil it for you, but let me just remind you that you have a level cap so you’re not going to be able to grind a little more to get those extra skill points.

I put over 52 hours of gameplay in and although I definitely didn’t get the “best ending” in the game, I can tell you that my decisions definitely changed what ended up happening in Arcadia. This is a solid sequel and I can definitely see this game getting another round. I’m not sure what the setting will be but there’s definitely meat left on the bones for more. There’s also a system in place called Flaws that changes up some of the gameplay aspects that can make your next playthrough more challenging and potentially more rewarding.
