Necrobarista Review

A tragic event has just occurred. That event was your death. You now find yourself standing on a side street in Melbourne, Australia. You follow the street to find yourself approaching a cafe with an inviting sign. You decide to take a look at the cafe, and this is where the adventure begins, in Necrobarista. You will be interacting with different parts of the cafe which will open up the next chapter in the story or provide you with a side story to give your experience more depth.

The patrons of this establishment are both alive and dead, however those that are dead only have a total of 24 hours to hang out before they will have to move on to whatever is next. You will follow the story of a range of characters in this cafe. As the next story chapter unfolds you will need to be on the lookout for words that will be highlighted in yellow. At the end of each chapter you will select a certain number of highlighted words. These words will transform into different components that will be used to unlock side stories to further immerse you into the world.

As the game goes on more areas will be available to you to provide you with more side story choices. Sadly I don’t know if you can unlock all the side stories through one playthrough, but it is a gut-wrenching story that makes you really feel. I wish I could go into the story, but that would be giving away some of the awesomeness that made this such an experience. I do wish that the game was voiced, I think that would have added that extra level needed to truly draw a person in. This is not going to be something that everyone is going to be interested in, but for those who like visual novels this is definitely a look-see.
